About Us:
- There is so much more to tell, and anyone who knits, as a hobby or for profession, will certainly attest to the fact that knitting is multidimensional. For the past several years, I have knitted mainly as a means to reduce stress and as a gift-giver, knitted with friends as a social experience, and knitted as a teacher sharing the art with others. Throughout this time what was always tapping me on the shoulder was the fact that knitting was corporate, a joint venture, as well as an example of the overlap of humans and those amazing animals that share their fiber to keep us warm. Seeing all this in the social experience I suppose is easy, but how, you may ask, could knitting alone be this? Well, as I would knit, the person to whom I was knitting the item for would be in my consciousness. It would be like they were sitting right there telling me what they wanted. Even more so, the animal from which the fiber came would be in my mind. Then, over time, as I continued to explore the many exquisite fibers that were being produced from unconventional sources, I was captivated, taken in hook, line, and sinker. I couldn't wait to order the yak yarn, mink yarn, bison, buffalo, and camel. I was driven to knit with the fiber in mind. Then, as I learned more and more about the farms and the farmers raising these animals it was pure admiration. They loved and cared for each animal and had such pride in the resulting fiber. Of course, the quality of the fiber then was superior to the mass produced yarn and the subsequent item exceptional.
